Maria Viola Jefferson:
Maria Viola Jefferson is a mother, wife, nurse, filmmaker, and author born to Sicilian immigrant parents. She discovered a love for writing and illustration in the third grade, where she wrote her first book of original poems and entered into a contest. After a twenty-year career as a labor & delivery nurse, Maria’s sustained passion for writing led to her first self-published children's book, Lefty Lucy for President (2017). This book was inspired by her daughter, signifying the challenges of being left-handed amongst her peers. In 2018, Maria wrote and produced her very first multi-award-winning feature film, Offstage Elements (2018). Offstage Elements is an inspirational drama that converges rock n’ roll with current-day family issues including drug and alcohol problems, mental illness, and more. It is currently streaming on demand and can be watched on Amazon Prime, Tubi, Plex, and Apple TV to name a few. Amid co-writing comedic episodes for a local television show in Palm Springs, Maria continues to write screenplays with hopes to inspire others.
